Health, Safety & Liability Acknowledgement

Last updated: 15 October 2026

SheRox is committed to providing a welcoming, supportive and reasonably safe environment for women’s fitness and well-being.

We want every participant to train confidently, understand the risks of physical exercise and take appropriate precautions.

1. Physical Exercise and Inherent Risks

Participation in fitness activities involves physical exertion and inherent risks.

Activities at SheRox may include boxing-based workouts, kickboxing-inspired exercise, bootcamp, HIIT, strength training, conditioning and other forms of exercise.

Possible risks include muscle strains, sprains, falls, overexertion, dizziness and other exercise-related injuries.

The nature and degree of risk depend on the activity, equipment, training intensity and individual circumstances.

2. Personal Health Responsibilities

Participants should assess their own readiness for physical exercise.

Where appropriate, they should obtain medical advice before beginning a new programme, particularly if they have a known medical condition, injury or other concern.

Members are required to provide relevant health information through the Octiv member system where requested for safety purposes.

Any material change affecting safe participation should be communicated to the instructor.

3. Safe Participation

Participants must:

  • Follow reasonable instructions from SheRox coaches and staff.
  • Use equipment properly.
  • Exercise within their individual capabilities.
  • Stop exercising when experiencing concerning symptoms.
  • Report unsafe conditions and damaged equipment.
  • Avoid reckless or deliberately dangerous behaviour.
  • Respect the safety and personal space of others.

4. Instructor Guidance

SheRox instructors provide fitness training and exercise guidance.

Such guidance does not constitute medical diagnosis, treatment or individual medical clearance.

Participants should consult appropriate healthcare professionals where needed.

5. Fitness Equipment and Facilities

Members must use equipment only as intended and in accordance with applicable safety instructions.

Defective or damaged equipment must be reported and should not be used.

Access to facilities is limited to authorised hours and permitted areas.

6. Emergencies

Members provide emergency contact information through Octiv under their member profiles.

SheRox may take reasonable steps to arrange emergency medical assistance where necessary.

Participants should immediately inform staff of accidents, injuries or medical emergencies.

7. Acknowledgement of Risk

Important: Please read this section carefully before participating.

By taking part in SheRox activities, participants acknowledge that:

  • Physical exercise carries inherent risks.
  • The training activities may involve strenuous physical exertion.
  • They should exercise within their abilities.
  • They are expected to follow safety instructions.
  • They may stop participating when they reasonably believe continuing would be unsafe.

This acknowledgement records awareness of ordinary exercise risks.

It does not exempt SheRox from legal duties of care or exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Liability and Consumer Rights

SheRox will take reasonable steps to maintain equipment, provide appropriate training guidance and operate the studio safely.

Nothing in this document excludes or limits liability for gross negligence or other liability that cannot be excluded under South African law.

Participants retain their applicable legal rights and remedies.

9. Personal Belongings

Participants should take reasonable care of personal belongings brought to the premises.

SheRox does not guarantee the security of unattended items.

Responsibility for property loss or damage will be determined according to applicable law and the relevant circumstances.

10. Respect and Privacy

All participants must respect the privacy and dignity of others.

Taking photographs or videos of other members requires appropriate permission.

SheRox will seek appropriate permission before using identifiable member images for promotional purposes.

11. Participation Confirmation

By accepting this acknowledgement or participating in an activity after receiving the relevant safety information, participants confirm that they understand the ordinary risks associated with physical exercise and the importance of following reasonable safety instructions.
